No one likes to grow older. Our memory is not as good, we cannot do the same things we used to do physically, and we find ourselves far less active. In addition, one of the toughest aspects of growing older is looking older. Your hair can turn gray, your skin can wrinkle, and your eyes look tired. It makes it so that you do not want to look in the mirror each morning.

However, even if you are getting older you do not need to look older. There are things you can do to improve the quality of your skin so that you will keep a youthful appearance. We are not saying that these tips will reverse the aging process, but they will reverse the effects of aging on your skin, and the best part about them is that they are simple and easy to do.

Drink Water

One thing that will cause your skin to age more rapidly is dehydration. We will discuss moisturizers later, but it is important that you keep in mind that the more water that you drink better off your skin is going to be, especially as you get older.

Most doctors will recommend drinking eight glasses of water per day. That is a good start, but you should be drinking somewhere between 10 and 12 glasses per day after you reach the age of 30. This helps to rehydrate your skin, which will keep it tighter and less likely to have wrinkles or other types of fine lines.

Use a Moisturizer

Using a moisturizer on your skin is a very good idea. However, you need to be selective about the choices you make. Some moisturizers use chemicals and preservatives that are harmful to your skin in the long term. Instead, what you should be looking for are moisturizers that penetrate the skin and are all natural. There are great products out there, so do a little homework before deciding.

Moisturizing should be done both at night and in the morning. This will help to rehydrate your skin and give you a much better look long-term.

Wash Your Face…Gently

Cleansing your skin is extremely important. Dirt, oils, and debris can lead to acne and other issues that can damage your face, especially over time. You need to cleanse your face regularly, at least twice a day to remove things that can become an issue for your skin.

However, the type of face wash you use is important as well, do not simply use ordinary soaps like you may use on your body in the shower. Instead, get a soap that cleanses and moisturizes at the same time. You want one that will not leave harsh chemicals behind and is free from any compounds that may attack the cells.

Limit the Number of Products You Use

One important note for you to consider is to limit the number of products that you are using on your face and neck. Some people use a moisturizer, then add a base, highlighter, and other types of makeup products to accent the look of their face. That may make you look beautiful now, but it can cause damage to your skin long-term.

What you want to do is limit the number of products that are going on your skin. The less things you put on the skin the better off you are. So, look for makeup and moisturizing products that can perform several tasks in one.

Watch the Elements

This should be common sense to most people, but it is not. We spend far too much time outdoors in the sun without protecting our skin. You need to wear sunblock when out in the sun and wear clothing that covers all of your exposed skin during the winter.

The weather conditions can do a significant amount of damage to your skin, especially long-term. Sadly, many younger people want to have that bronze complexion, so they put their skin in jeopardy. If you need to be outside, limit the amount of exposure to the elements. Plus, it goes without saying, but avoid tanning booths. These are going to do a significant amount of damage to your skin.

Exfoliate Your Skin Often

Did you know that you would lose 50 million skin cells per day? That is the reality. Helping that process along is a good idea, and this is why you should exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. This helps to remove excess skin that is no longer needed. They will also help to neutralize the pH levels in your skin. It is a regular procedure you should perform to keep yourself from aging.

Pat Your Skin

If you are using moisturizers and anti-aging serums, they can be of great help to you. However, rubbing them into your skin is not the way to go. This can irritate your skin, which can lead to damage long-term. Instead, gently pat with a cotton ball or towel onto your face and neck.

This is not to discourage you from using these products. Many moisturizers and anti-aging serums contain vitamins that are beneficial for your skin. These include such things as retinoids and vitamin-see. They will increase the strengthening of the collagen in your skin and the antioxidants will remove oils and dirt that can build up. These things cause your skin to age but using these products in the right way will reduce their impact.

Exercise and Shower

Exercising is a great thing for your body in general. It helps to keep you in shape, makes you look better, and helps you psychologically as well. However, consider that when you are exercising you sweat, which opens your pores so that oils and dirt and get inside. After you exercise, it is smart to take a shower and rinse off the effects of your run or workout.

As you can see, it takes just a few simple things for you to do each day to keep your skin from aging so that you look more beautiful than ever. Put in this little bit of effort and you will enjoy the benefits for years to come.
