The One Blemish
Doing your nails allows you to style them the way you want and it can be a lot of fun, but you may have some small problems that can take away from the great look. One such problem is when the polish gets on the side of your fingers.

Getting Elmer’s glue off your finger is tougher to do than Vaseline. There is no doubt about that, but there is a big advantage to using glue instead of gel. This is that it does not as easily wipe off when you are applying the polish either. This way you can be real sure that the polish will not get onto your fingers. A little soap and water will remove the glue and your nails will look beautiful.
As a note, some have used glue sticks and have had some success, but this is not the best choice. The problem is that they do not apply the same kind of coat so you cannot count on them protecting against the polish getting on your fingers.
Use Guards
There are stick on guards you can buy that you can use to protect your skin from getting polish on it as well. These are very effective, but they are something that you have to buy. You may not want to pay for the cost to get them, but they are very effective.
You start by taking off the protective film on the back of the guard. Then place the sticky side around your finger to reveal just the nail. It takes a little practice to get very skilled at this, but it is not hard to master.
Once you are done, you can paint to your hearts delight. What is so popular about these guards is that they cover a good portion of the top of your finger, so you do not need to worry about being as accurate when polishing your nails. This is the perfect choice if you need to do your nails quickly or if you are not as steady when using the brush.
One other advantage is that cleanup is really easy. All it takes is for you to pull of the guard and throw it away. You will find that using these guards allows you to paint your nails completely and it dries within 10 or 15 minutes. You can have all of your nails done in 15 minutes and be out the door.
The only real disadvantage to using these guards is that you have to pay for them. Vaseline or Elmer’s glue are obviously a lot cheaper to use, but they still require a little more delicacy and precision than the guards do. If you are person who just wants to get your nails done and to get them done quickly then you may find the guards to be the perfect choice. After all, they are not that effective.
When You Make a Mistake
As a final note, should you go a little too far no need to worry. What you want to do is finish completely polishing your nails first. Do not stop to try to fix it, but instead complete the nails.
After the nail polish has dried, get a little nail polish remover and put it on a Q-tip. Then gently rub the swab onto the area where you want to remove the polish. With a few swipes you should be able to remove the excess polish. It really is that easy.
