They say that music can soothe the savage beast. That may be true, but there is a natural chemical out there that can do that and much more. That would be Lavender.

We often think of Lavender as a color, but the truth of it is that it is an herb as well. Lavender is specifically a flowering plant that is part of the men family. Most immediately recognize its appearance, as it is a very unique looking flower that also happens to be…well…lavender in color.

Lavender is found native to many places across the world, especially in the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and India. History dates this flower back to about 2500 years ago, but it likely existed long before that. It has long been used for both medicinal and religious purposes, and many use it now as an appealing aroma in their home.

It is quite common to find lavender scented oils and candles. These provide an incredible aroma in your home, but Lavender can actually do far more than just smell nice.

Improving the Quality of Your Life

Over the last half-century, researchers have discovered that there are many benefits to lavender. Now, it should be pointed out up front that there was not some new revelation regarding the benefits of Lavender. As mentioned, this herb has been used in medicinal purposes for over 2500 years. People have long appreciated the benefits of Lavender.

What is different is that a significant amount of research has been employed to determine exactly how lavender can improve the quality of life for people. What has been discovered is that there are quite a few ways that this plant is able to benefit people.

As you can see, lavender provides a number of benefits for you. However, it is important to give you one word of caution. While lavender can be an extremely useful tool in assisting you with issues you may have with your life, finding the right dose is something you may have to experiment with.

For example, you may find that a certain amount of lavender assists you in being able to sleep well at night. You may have to begin to heat the oil in your room for 30 minutes or an hour before you go to sleep to reap the full benefits of the oil. However, you will also need to see how much of the oil is needed to help you to relax during the day without causing you to be drowsy. This is just one precaution. Always start with a small amount and work your way up as needed. You were going to find that using lavender is going to be a great benefit to you. Plus, there are no addictive effects, so it is a win-win for you.
